Objectives

The overall objectives of the High Desert Men’s Summit are to support local pastors and churches while building up, equipping and unifying Christian men of all denominations. The specific objectives of Common Ground, the Fall Summit 2008 are to:

Affirm

The Summit is first and foremost an Affirmation that Christ’s Church is alive and well in the men of Central Oregon. It’s a Declaration that the Church is one. It’s a Demonstration that it’s grand and big and growing, yet small and personal, because Christ cares for each of us - He cares for you! He wants you to see by the visible evidence of thousands of men’s hands raised in unison that you are not alone. When you join men of all ages, from all walks of life, from all corners of the globe, and from all churches, you will be encouraged, inspired and empowered. The Summit is an Exclamation Point at mid-year that we are an Army – and we’re not invisible!

Bridge

The Summit is a bridge across age and culture and beliefs. It’s a time to heal, a time to build, a time to praise, and a time to give thanks.

The Summit connects:

  • Generations to Generations – Grandfathers, fathers and sons. Elders need the passion and energy of youth. The young need the wisdom and resources of their elders. We all need love.
  • Men to Men – As iron sharpens iron, Godly men hone each another…but only if we are connected. Men connect to men in small groups within the context of their local church.
  • Men to the Community – Faith without Works is dead. The Summit provides connections to your local community so you can intervene and make a difference.

Challenge

Christ has given us a sacred challenge – a charge to love God and love people and to reach the world with His Message. Here’s the question: Are we men enough? Are we men enough to take up his Challenge? Men enough to pray, to study, to worship, to love? Men enough to live a life that matters and to make a difference? Are we men after God’s own heart?

The Summit offers a resounding YES! Christ did not leave us with the Challenge and no resources. He gave us His Word, the Holy Spirit and each other. Come and be equipped for the grand Challenge and the great adventure Christ has for you.
