A major focus of the High Desert Men's Summit is to connect the secular nonprofit and faith-based communities and to open clear pathways for men to impact the community in alignment with the vision and mission of their local church and under the spiritual covering of their pastors.
Project Homeless Connect is a regional program that culminates in a one day event for those in poverty or homelessness. Medical, dental, child services, housing and prescription assistance, food, employment, education, veteran's services, food stamps, and much more are offered at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds and Expo Center, on October 11, 2008. Hundreds of volunteers come to bring kindness to those in need. 541-504-1389 www.partnershiptoendpoverty.org
The goal of RSVP is to expand and support the valuable services that we offer to the community. We coordinate over 700 senior volunteers with opportunities that best fit their talents and desires. Our volunteers serve countless hours delivering Meals on Wheels to seniors and disabled persons, help Habitat for Humanity build homes for the homeless, and work with the KID’S Center serving abused kids and mentor & tutor children. And we distribute books to underprivileged youth through our new “First Books” program along with meeting many other community needs.
At RSVP of Deschutes County, we believe that Volunteers are a community’s greatest resource and they do Make a Difference. We also know volunteers often bring years of exprperience to their volunteer positions, offering a wide range of skills and abilities in service to their communities. That is why RSVP program’s flexibility encourages people 55 years and up to put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work. Through the combined energies of volunteers and agencies - “all us working together we will make a difference in our communities.
